Now that it is quite officially fall here in Portland,
I'm dreaming of boots, tights, and cozy scarves.
What better piece to show all those off than a denim shift dress!
I could see this outfit from Le Journal Sezane being my new fall uniform.
Classy and put together, yet could withstand chasing a toddler and getting covered in yogurt...
The Brigette Tunic from Toast and the Patched Shift Dress from Oasis are also great inspiration.
I feel like the key to a fantastic denim shift dress are the subtle details.
Buttons here, a contrasting binding there, interesting stitching at the hems.
The two patterns I picked are perfect for adding in your own little details.
The Laurel Dress from Colette Patterns is the perfect blank slate dress pattern.
I made a Laurel shirt this summer and am dying to see how the dress sews up.
I am also very much in love with all the Lisette Patterns.
I could see this Itinerary Dress pattern from Lisette as a great denim dress,
with the extra fun of making a contrasting fabric belt.
Looks like I'll be spending some time on Fabric.com and Joann.com this weekend
looking for the perfect denim fabric!
