Hooray for Kid's Clothes Week!
Yesterday I was able to bust out this little shirt for my little man,
and am so dang excited with how well it turned out and how quickly I was able to make it!
I drafted the pattern from a shirt of his that fits a little on the big side.
The shirt did come out a little big, but that is never a bad thing for a growing baby.
I then cut up an old shirt of mine, using the existing hems on the body and sleeves.
Boy was that a time saver!
Then for my favorite part, the stenciling!
This kid loves loves loves listening to music
and just starts bouncing to anything with a beat!
One of his favorite songs of the moment is this hilarious song "What Does the Fox Say?"
so of course my little hipster baby needs it on a shirt. Haha!
I just cut the letters out of some freezer paper to make a stencil.
(It took me the longest time to figure out what freezer paper is, this is the kind I use)
Then I ironed the freezer paper onto the shirt
and used a sponge brush to dab on some black fabric paint.
Let it dry over night, peel off your paper, and let your little baby dance around in it!
Now I've got to hurry off this computer while the little man is still sleeping
to try and keep this sewing streak alive!
Were you able to start any projects yesterday for Kid's Clothes Week?!
This song is hilarious! Love you put the saying on the shirt.
ReplyDeleteAnd using existing hems- definitely the way to go!
awesome shirt! i've managed to get two things cut out and have started on sewing one of them. hoping to get at least 2-3 more things finished before the week is over :)
ReplyDeleteSo adorable! I need to make one of those shirts for my 3 year old now!
ReplyDeleteI remember seeing that project on kcw earlier in the week, it is so stinking cute! I've been sewing along this week too. So far made a lumber jack hat, skinny cords, suspenders and a baby girl dress. It's definitely keeping me motivated to sew more. Look forward to seeing what else you make!
